Wynnewood

Wynnewood, like other towns along the Main Line, have historically been a refuge for merchant magnates and oil industry tycoons dating back to the mid-19th century. Their majestic and sprawling estates grace tree-lined streets and reflect the architectural trends of their time; Georgian and Roman Revival mansions stand next to Victorian Gothic-inspired castles. Wynnewood’s substantial legacy dates back to 1691 when the region was named after Dr. Thomas Wynne, first Speaker of the Pennsylvania General assembly. Since then, this tiny community was recently named the fifth most affluent township in the country by CNN Money.

Offering quality residential neighborhoods, Wynnewood is home to Lankenau Medical Center, a leading hospital, offering minimally invasive and robotic surgery. In 2013, the hospital will open its new Heart and Vascular Pavilion, a state-of-the-art facility for all of Lankenau’s cardiovascular services. Lakenau Medical Center’s comprehensive programs have received numerous awards. Recognition from U.S. News & World Report has placed Lankenau Medical Center as one of the top hospitals in multiple specialties in the Philadelphia area.

With incomparable educational opportunities, Wynnewood leads the way in academic excellence. Placing a high priority on family values, their community services provide a collaborative and supportive network of parents, teachers and school administrators.

Wynnewood also happens to be the home of many famous and highly-regarded individuals in the field of education, sports and entertainment. Some of the famous people, who affectionately call Wynnewood home, include Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers and current resident and musician Patti LaBelle.
